Navi for Chrome: privacy
Updated 24 October 2026
Navi for Chrome is a side panel for Cartesia's hiring team. It shows what Cartesia's recruiting system, Navi, knows about the person or interview on the page you have open. Only people with a Cartesia account who are allowed into Navi can use it.
What it reads, and when
It reads only the page in your current tab, and only while the panel is open. From that page it reads:
- a profile page (LinkedIn, GitHub, Google Scholar, or another site you allow): the page address, the person's name and headline, and the profile text on the page;
- a candidate in Ashby: the candidate's id from the page address;
- an event in Google Calendar: its title and time;
- an email in Gmail: the sender's name and address, and the subject.
It doesn't read other tabs or your browsing history, and it doesn't run in the background.
Where it goes
- To Navi, Cartesia's own service at hire.cartesia.ai, over HTTPS. Navi looks the person up in Cartesia's applicant tracking system (Ashby) and shows only what your account may see there.
- When you choose How do they fit?, the profile text is sent to Anthropic's Claude API, under Cartesia's agreement with Anthropic, to compare against Cartesia's open roles. Navi keeps the result, not the page, for the rest of the day.
- When you choose Add as prospect, Refer them or Save for later, the name, profile address and your note are written to Ashby or Navi on your behalf.
Nothing is sold, used for advertising, or shared with anyone else. The extension has no analytics or tracking.
What it keeps in your browser
Only a sign-in token for Navi, kept in Chrome's extension storage. It lasts 30 days. Disconnect in the panel removes it, and losing access to Navi ends it too.
